I have successfully completed one of my reading challenges. I'm more than 1/2 way through another and then I will be able to focus on the third...YES. I hope my momentum sticks or gets better this second half of the year. :-)
I'm a mom and work full-time. How I find time to read I'm not sure but I do. I have been reading ever since I can remember. I always find that if I'm not reading something, I feel empty. I recently bought an eReader so that I can ALWAYS have my library with me :-) Since I have been introduced to a number of different books since I bought my eReader, I thought it made sense to start a blog to share not only my love for reading with others, but also new and interesting reading material.

So Close...
It's halfway through the year and I'm so close to completing two of the challenges I signed up for. My eBook Challenge and YA Challenge has been going so well so far but my 2011 book Bloggers Recommendation Challenge is not going so well at all. I think if I stopped buying books and read the books that I have I would be able to get through some of the list. I know I have July through December to finish the challenge but there are so many books I want to read. What to do, what to do...

Random Thought
It's been a while since I've posted a random thought. My random thought for the night is how long my TBR list is getting. I had the fortunate and unfortunate pleasure of joining a group on facebook where indie authors are promoting their books. I am enjoying the group and finding new books, which is the fortunate part. The unfortunate part is that my TBR list is getting longer and longer along with my wish list of books I want to buy. Whoa is me....

...Take Me Away...
Who remembers the commercial where the lady was having such a bad day and she said 'Calgon, Take me away...' That's the day I had and how I feel right now. I have been having an awful day, I'm surprised I'm even on here right now. I also noticed that I think I missed the sign up for the read-a-thon this weekend. I may not have signed up but I think I'm going to informally try to participate anyway. Maybe put a tiny dent in my TBR pile.

Random Thought
I'm not sure what to call what I'm going through. Since the year began I've been trying to be a more "active" blogger by visiting and posting on other blogs. I've also been trying to read more and post more but for whatever reason, two of the books I read, I can't seem to find the proper words to write a review for them. I don't know if that makes sense but it's like I have a writing block or something. Do other bloggers experience this feeling sometimes, even if they absolutely enjoyed the book they are trying to review?

OH BOY!!
I feel like I have neglected my blog in the worst way. I haven't posted in a week and one of my unsaid resolutions was to be a more active blogger. I've been so tired lately. I'm hoping that I will gain some strength in the next few days. I've also been having a hard time focusing...what to do? I think I need some organization tips...LOL

I hope everyone who celebrates Thanksgiving had a wonderful day. This is my favorite time of year besides summer. Although I hate the commercialization of Christmas, I love the holiday. I like the smell of Christmas trees, I love holiday music and I love to look at the lights and decorations on people's houses. I also like that it's a low period at work for me...LOL
Anyway, the point of this post is to find out how often people go through dry spells in reading. When they do go through one, what do they do to get back in the swing of things? I think I may be going through a dry spell. Everything I've tried to read in the last two weeks have been nothing but the sound of Charlie Brown's teacher in my head. The bad part about it is that these books have gotten great reviews and under normal circumstances would catch my interest. I'm not sure what's wrong. I thought that once I was done with school I would have so much more time to read and would be able to put a dent in my TBR pile. Anyone have any advice?

Random Thought
I've been trying to read Room by Emma Donoghue for the past month and haven't been able to. I know the book has gotten great reviews and I'm really not that far into it but I cannot get over how the little boy Jack speaks. I was suppose to read it for a Nook book club but the dialogue is very difficult. Is that bad? Has anyone else had trouble not being able to read a book that got great reviews because of some reason or another. If so give me some tips. I think I'm going to set it aside and come back. Any encouragement to keep going is welcome :-)

Random Thought - 10/25/2010
I haven't posted a random thought in a long time. Not that I haven't had any but tonight is a special one for me. I submitted my last paper and presentation for my program. I can breathe now and READ more...AAAAHHHH!!!

MARK YOUR CALENDARS
October is National Reading Group Month!
Hello, everyone. I was perusing through Barnes and Noble's boards and found something that said October is National Reading Group Month. I'm sure most of the experienced bloggers already know but I thought I would post a reminder. There's some information from the post on the board that I will include. Happy Reading :-)

Random Thought
I haven't had a random thought posted in a while. I was so consumed with trying to finish The Passage and reading The Wedding Gift and Mockingjay that I haven't been posting anything here. I still come here everyday though. So my anxiety, if that's what I want to call it, got the best of me last night. I had a dream that I wrote a great review of a book that I only read 30 pages of so far. I say a great review, not because the review was great but because I was able to write a review and didn't even know how the book ended...LOL
Now, I keep thinking I have 8 more weeks of school and then I can read as much as I want.

Whoa Is Me!!!
I haven't done anything fun all week. That includes blogging and reading. My school work has been working me overtime. However, I am determined to get some reading done tonight. I'm trying to read The Passage for a Facebook Nook book club and I haven't put a dent in the book yet. It usually doesn't take me that long for a book I am enjoying. What's bad is that I contemplated not doing a paper last night so that I can do more blog "research"...LOL. I ended up doing my paper though :-(

On Friday, I learned that B&N began offering four new eMagazines for the Nook. I think 2 Science Fiction and 2 Mystery. It's 2.99 if you purchase per issue but you can also subscribe. However, they are giving a 14 day free trial period if you buy a copy or something to that effect. So I decided I was going to "try" an eMagazine and maybe get introduced to new reading material. This is the problem I'm having, the one I bought has 5 or 6 sections to it and it's 267 pages long. I've never read a mystery magazine before so I'm not sure about this. Has anyone else every read Mystery Magazines or even Sci-Fi ones? What do you think about them?

Random Thought
I've been sitting here all night waiting for my team to get it together so that we can edit our assignment and post it. Needless to say one out of the 6 of us decided to not show until 12:30 am EST. Can you see the fire coming out of my ears. Due to me siting here all night in front of my computer, I haven't been able to read. At any rate, I took a look at the books that I've read so far in 2010 and realized that most, if not all are a part of a series. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy reading books in a series. However, I think I need to add some stand-alone books as well. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Random Thought :That Cheating Feeling
When my random thought first popped in my head, I said to myself, you have totally lost it. But no, I often have random thoughts, I just now have a place to write them down. I mentioned in my about me blurb that I recently got an eReader. Well I love that thing and I don't leave home without it. Problem is, and here is the random thought, I feel like I'm cheating on my books...LOL. I know weird...and yes I am a tad bit weird but I claim it and embrace it...LOL. So it's not that I miss buying paper books per se, it's just that I miss touching them. I do still get my fix though. Every now and then I go to the book store and walk around like I used to before my Nook. I go look at books, touch them, read the flaps or backs and then write them down to go home and put on my wish list. So for those of you out there with eReaders, do you miss just holding or touching a book ever?
