Interiew and Giveaway - Said the Spider by Earl Van Gilder

Thank you to Outskirts Press, who has agreed for me to host a giveaway for Said the Spider. I have read and reviewed Said the Spider by Earl Van Gilder and I thought this book was well written with details that made you feel like you were there. Earl Van Gilder has given readers a crime thriller that they will most likely be talking about for a while. You can read my review of this book here. Below are some interview questions.

1. What inspired you to write this book?

Before and after my retirement as President of a corporation dealing in industrial espionage, white-collar crime, undercover and criminal investigations I was asked to share my experiences and stories. Also, just the sheer enjoyment of writing.

2. What compelled you to write your first book?

Friends and associates asking me to tell my story of investigation and experiences related to that part of my life.

3.  What are you working on at the moment?

I’ve completed two (2) more books (series) related to Said The Spider. They are Gumshoe Diary-The Month of May, and Point Of Connection. They involve many of the same characters (and new characters) but with new and different adventures.

4. What type of research did you do for the book?

On the three books I’ve written it required only limited research because they were part of my history. On occasion I did limited research into methods, geography, events etc. that were needed to recall times and events. There will be a time when my actual recollection and memory requires making new adventures that are less real to me but I’ll handle that when the time comes.

5. What do you draw inspiration from?

My writing is based loosely on past experiences..

6. Are you a published or a self-published author and how do you come up with your cover art?

Said The Spider is self-published through Outskirts and was a joint effort in cover art.

7. Who are some of your favorite authors and what are you reading now?

Larry McMurtry, John Ross and Allan Eckert are current favorites. Right now I am reading Miyamoto Musashi – His Life and Writings by Kenji Tokitsu who was an undefeated swordsman, master of battlefield strategy and martial arts icon from the 1600’s in Japan.

8. What can readers expect next from you?

A vivid imagination and authentic adventures.
