I Want To Be A Runner...

Author: James Dashner
Publisher: Random House Children's Books
Format: Nook e-Book

Synopsis from Barnes & Noble:
When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his first name. His memory is blank. But he s not alone. When the lift s doors open, Thomas finds himself surrounded by kids who welcome him to the Glade a large, open expanse surrounded by stone walls.

Just like Thomas, the Gladers don t know why or how they got to the Glade. All they know is that every morning the stone doors to the maze that surrounds them have opened. Every night they ve closed tight. And every 30 days a new boy has been delivered in the lift.

Thomas was expected. But the next day, a girl is sent up the first girl to ever arrive in the Glade. And more surprising yet is the message she delivers.

Thomas might be more important than he could ever guess. If only he could unlock the dark secrets buried within his mind.

My Thoughts:
I am really enjoying this new genre of young adult books. Maze Runner to me moved very fast from the time Thomas landed in the box in the beginning of the book to the end of the book. From the day Thomas got there he felt a familiarity to the Glade although he couldn't remember anything but his name. The first few nights in the Glade for Thomas had him going through a number of different emotions, from anger to tears and in some ways sorrow. His main focus was figuring out a way to get out, even though at the time he didn't know what was on the other side of the Glade and how dangerous it was. However, he knew there had to be a way and he was determined to find it.

I enjoyed reading the dialogue and the made up dialect of the boys. There were quite a few words or phrases that I found myself using after I finished the book. One of which was 'shuck it'...LOL

Maze Runner is filled with action, drama and adventure. The story the author wrote was filled with suspense and I felt the middle to the end of the book had quite a bit of 'at the edge of your seat' anticipation. Maze Runner is one that I would definitely recommend to anyone who likes the young adult genre and anyone who enjoyed Hunger Games.

I GIVE THIS:
DISCLAIMER: I was in no way compensated to review this book. These are my opinions of a book in which I purchased on my own.

  1. Before I started book blogging I would have never thought to pick up a YA book, but I have discovered some great reads in that genre! Glad you enjoyed this one.....
